A visit in Lisbon!

During my trip in Europe I visited so much cities but one of them was Lisbon capital of Portugal.I was in Spain so I decide to take the train to go straight to Lisbon because I think that the most relaxing transportation in the world is train, especially when you take a long ride to visit another city somewhere in Europe.I had time to get very relaxed during the road and I also had time to do some works online.

After arriving in Lisbon I started to look around for the best places in the city. I got in touch with locals and asked them for the best places to visit in Lisbon. Locals are very friendly and they offered me to show the city and to tell me something for the history of Lisbon city.

The Jerónimos Monastery or Hieronymites Monastery , is a former monastery of the Order of Saint Jerome near the Tagus river in the parish of Belém, in the Lisbon Municipality, Portugal; it was secularised on 28 December 1833 by state decree and its ownership transferred to the charitable institution, Real Casa Pia de Lisboa. The monastery is one of the most examples of the Portuguese Late Gothic Manueline style of the architecture in Lisbon.I also ask one person about the history of this place.

The Jerónimos Monastery replaced the church formerly existing in the same place, which was dedicated to Santa Maria de Belém and where the monks of the military-religious Order of Christ provided assistance to seafarers in transit. The harbour of Praia do Restelo was an advantageous spot for mariners, with a safe anchorage and protection from the winds, sought after by ships entering the mouth of the Tagus. The existing structure was inaugurated on the orders of Manuel I (1469–1521) at the courts of Montemor o Velho in 1495, as a final resting-place for members of the House of Aviz, in his belief that an Iberian dynastic kingdom would rule after his death. In 1496, King Manuel petitioned the Holy See for permission to construct a monastery at the site.

The second places I visited was the Belem tower it was so beautiful I was so amazed about this architecture.I also learned about the history about this place. This tower was build in the 16th century and the towers in 30 metre (98.4 ft).

The third and the last places I visited was Lisbon Baixa also known as Pombaline Lower Town area covers about 235,620 square metres of central Lisbon, Portugal. It consists of the grid of streets north of the Praça do Comércio, roughly between the Cais do Sodré and the Alfama district beneath the Lisbon Castle, and extends northwards towards the Rossio and Figueira squares and the Avenida da Liberdade, a tree-lined boulevard noted for its tailoring shops and cafes.I saw so many this here I saw people who was performing magic some others painting.

Thats It for my visit in Lisbon I had so much fun here visiting this wonderful city also learn that this city had to many earthquake but I’m so happy that the places survival the earthquake It was a beautiful experience for me.
